LongView Animal Nutrition Center provides our nutritionists, veterinarians, and managers with the means to develop new products, processes and information designed to support producer improvement.  These, in turn, maximize performance and build confidence in the Purina Mills label.

Today the focus at LongView is on all phases of swine production.  All facilities are designed for maximum replication and research accuracy.  Presently 200 plus sows are farrowed in 40 crates (4 rooms of 10 each) and approximately 40 litters are weaned every five weeks.  The majority of the pigs are used in nursery and in grow/fin research.  Additionally, LongView has 8 nursery rooms with a total capacity for 800 pigs.
 
Finishing facilities consist of five barns with a total capacity for 952 pigs. In these facilities, different penning configurations exist to house pigs in individual pens or in groups of six, seven, or eight pigs per pen.  

The Swine Research Center also includes an isolation unit, as well as an intensive metabolism facility for basic nutrition research.
