In June 2008,  Purina Mills adds several new innovative products to its already comprehensive and well-balanced sow feed program :-
 
True Appetizer™ Feed. This novel product is engineered to increase lactation feed intake, resulting in a significant increase (>10%) in feed consumption during lactation, particularly in hot weather. These dips in feed intake are associated with longer weaning-to-estrus intervals, reduced farrowing rates and smaller subsequent litter size. Land O’Lakes Purina Swine Research data from five trials shows that True Appetizer™ is able to significantly increase feed intake, litter weight gain and reduce pre-wean mortality, at a room temperature of approx 80ºF. Gentle Lax™ Pak. It is well known that a sow that is constipated has difficulty in having her pigs. This can result in an increase in stillborns. Typical laxatives used today like magnesium oxide tend to harden up the gut and thus increasing quantities are needed for effect. Gentle Lax Pak contains a tested blend of hydrated mineral (for immediate action) & soluble fiber (for longer-term action), and is engineered to be palatable with a gentle, natural softening action.
 
Breeder Enrich™ Feed. In top-performing genetics, lactation stress can put first parity sows and mature sows in a “vulnerable” position; their normal immune defenses are not operating at full capacity and nutrient resources are pulled to support the immune system. The solution is Breeder Enrich Feed - A combination of key nutritional ingredients for top performing gilts, sows or boars (This product also supplies elevated nutrient concentrations required by working boars to maintain high fertility rates)
 
EcoCare® Feed. The first dedicated complete feed program addressing manure management, odor emissions and overall nutrient utilization while optimizing performance in grower/ finisher pigs has now been introduced to sows. EcoCare feed is a portfolio of nutrient formulation, appropriate ingredients and feed additives needed to maximize performance and minimize waste in breeding herds.
 
Also available,
PUSH® sow feed is a unique combination of nutritional technologies that when fed to sows pre-farrow through weaning, increases the number of pigs weaned and results in heavier pigs at weaning. These improvements combine to increase total litter weaning weight and therefore, more income per sow. The key benefit is increased pig survivability – up to 1 additional pig per sow per year weaned with no negative impact on sow body weight, sow body condition score, days return to estrus or feed intake.
